COUPEVILLE, Wash. (AP) -- The Coast Guard suspended the search Monday for a man missing from a 32-foot boat that was found empty with its motor running off Penn Cove on Whidbey Island.
The boat was found Sunday afternoon by Swinomish Tribal Fisheries Patrol, turning circles with no crew aboard. It was registered as a Swinomish tribal boat.
Coast Guard Petty Officer Shawn Eggert says witnesses saw a man aboard earlier in the afternoon.
The search included a Coast Guard helicopter from Port Angeles, cutter from Port Townsend and two boats from Seattle, as well as units from Swinomish Tribal Fisheries, Whidbey Island Fire/Rescue and the Snohomish County sheriff's dive team.
