SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) — Avista officials are asking utility regulators in Idaho and Washington for permission to lower gas bills because of falling wholesale prices for natural gas.
If approved, a typical residential customer in Washington would see a 6 percent decrease — roughly $3.90 — in their monthly gas bill. Idaho residential customers would see a roughly 5.7 percent decrease, or savings of about $3.46 a month. The changes would start March 1 under Avista’s plan.
Commercial customers in both states would see monthly bills drop by an estimated 7 to 10 percent.
Avista president Dennis Vermillion told the Spokesman Review (http://bit.ly/w4Xs0y ) that an increase in natural gas supply and weak demand has led to falling prices.
