OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- A spokeswoman for Boeing Co. says it is still too early to know whether a proposal to eliminate a program to upgrade the cockpits of C-130 aircraft will affect the number of jobs the company plans to move to Oklahoma City.
Boeing announced plans in 2010 to move about 550 employees from Long Beach, Calif., to Oklahoma City, with about 230 of those to work on the C-130 upgrades. Boeing spokeswoman Jennifer Hogan said Tuesday that about 110 employees have moved to Oklahoma.
President Barack Obama's proposed budget would end the program at a savings that the Department of Defense estimates at $2.3 billion through fiscal year 2017.
Hogan said four C-130s are now at Little Rock Air Force Base for testing and a fifth is due in March.
