Coleman tips Presbyterian past Winthrop 48-45

ROCK HILL, S.C. (AP) — Al’Lonzo Coleman grabbed 18 rebounds and tipped in the last of them for the go-ahead basket with 22 seconds left as Presbyterian defeated Winthrop 48-45 Tuesday night.

After Coleman gave the Blue Hose (12-14, 6-10 Big South Conference) a 46-45 lead, Winthrop’s Joab Jerome turned the ball over and Presbyterian’s Pierre Miller hit two free throws with 11 seconds left.

Andre Jones missed a 3-point try for the Eagles (11-17, 8-9) with 3 seconds left.

Presbyterian led 22-16 after shooting 43.5 percent (10 of 23) in the first half to Winthrop’s 25.9 percent (7 of 27). In the second half, Winthrop came back by shooting 43.3 percent (13 of 30) to Presbyterian’s 26.1 percent (6 of 23).

Miller scored 13 points to lead the Blue Hose, while Coleman, who was averaging 16.7 points, had eight on 3-for-12 shooting.

Jerome scored 14 points and Matt Morgan 11 for Winthrop.
