JBLM service for soldier killed in Afghanistan

JOINT BASE LEWIS-MCCHORD, Wash. (AP) -- A memorial service will be held Wednesday at Joint Base Lewis-McChord for a soldier who was killed in Afghanistan.

The Army said 24-year-old 1st Lt. David A. Johnson, of Horicon, Wis., was killed Jan. 25 by a homemade bomb while on foot patrol in Kandahar province.

His service will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday in the JBLM Lewis North Chapel.

Johnson was assigned to the 3rd Stryker Brigade that deployed to Afghanistan in December.
