LOS ANGELES (AP) -- President Barack Obama is opening a three-day West coast fundraising trip with an appeal to Democrats to mobilize for the fall elections.
Obama said at a Los Angeles fundraiser that "it's not going to be easier this time. It's going to be harder this time." He told hundreds of supporters that "people out there are hurting and they need us to do more."
Obama was attending two fundraisers in Los Angeles on Wednesday. The first was an outdoor fundraising reception at the home of soap opera producer Bradley Bell. A thousand people attended, with tickets starting at $250.
Obama was also attending a dinner at Bell's home co-hosted by actor Will Ferrell. Eighty people were expected, with tickets costing $35,800.
The president is holding eight fundraisers through Friday with other stops in San Francisco and Seattle.
