Letter: Candidates could split vote

I’m not very political but lean toward the Republican side. If the Republican Party doesn’t get its act together, Barack Obama will win. Just look at what we have so far.

Rick Santorum, good political knowledge and good business.

Ron Paul, with a good following, stronger politically and good business.

Mitt Romney, my choice, extremely strong business and good politically.

And then there is Newt Gingrich, the man of extremes. Extremely strong politically and extremely weak business-wise.

Now assume the Republican Party gives the nod to either Romney or Gingrich, Santorum will bow out gracefully. Paul will get his knickers in a twist and drop the Republican Party and go to one of the other political parties, splitting the Republican vote. Second scenario would be that Paul gets the nod and still splits the Republican vote. It’s happened before and it looks like it’s happening again.

Personally, I don’t think Santorum will get the party nod but he could be a good leader.
