NEW YORK (AP) — The Peke was pooped.

Malachy the Pekingese was worn out Wednesday, a day after he wobbled off with best in show at the Westminster Kennel Club.

The 4-year-old with the smushed-in face, flowing fur and slow walk kept falling asleep during a visit to Sardi’s restaurant in Manhattan. He passed up the traditional day-after steak lunch after eating his regular chicken and rice.

Handler and co-owner David Fitzpatrick says Malachy was tired after his big win at America’s top dog show. Fitzpatrick says Malachy is now retired and will go home to Pennsylvania to be a house pet and “have time for the ladies.”
