MACOMB, Illi. (AP) — Western Illinois broke a previously tied game to pull away in the final five minutes for a 47-42 win over UMKC on Wednesday night.

Western Illinois (14-11, 8-8 Summit League) went ahead permanently when Ceola Clark was fouled in the act of shooting a 3-pointer and hit all three subsequent foul shots to stake the Bulldogs to a 38-35 lead with 4:55 remaining. UMKC (10-18, 4-12) clawed to within 40-37 on two free throws by Thomas Staton with 3:46 left, but the Bulldogs answered with a 6-1 run.

Clark, Obi Emegano and Rerr Roberts-Burnett led Western Illinois with 10 points each. Reggie Chamberlain led UMKC with 14 points, including 4 of 5 on 3-pointers.

The game was tied at 17-all at halftime and the Bulldogs led by as many as six in the second half until the Roos clinched a 35-all tie on a Kirk Korver layup with 6:12 remaining.
