Burrell scores 19, Seattle stops Pepperdine 81-70

SEATTLE (AP) — Cervante Burrell scored 19 points, Aaron Broussard scored 17 and Sterling Carter had 16 points to help Seattle beat Pepperdine 81-70 on Thursday night.

Burrell hit 8 of 8 free throws in the final 1:35 to hold off the Waves as Seattle (9-14) won its third consecutive game and sixth of its last eight.

Corbin Moore scored a career-high 20 points and Taylor Darby also scored 20 to lead Pepperdine (8-18), which has lost five straight and 13 of 14. Jordan Baker added 11 points — nine in the first half.

Seattle took control of the game midway through the second half when the Waves went scoreless for nearly 10 minutes.
