Timbers sign MF Franck Songo'o of Cameroon

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) -- The Portland Timbers have signed midfielder Franck Songo'o of Cameroon.
Songo'o, who played for Cameroon in the Beijing Olympics, played last season for Spanish side Albacete.
The 24-year-old has played in the top Spanish league as well as in the English Premier League, starting his professional career in 2005 with Portsmouth FC.
Songo'o joined the Timbers as a non-roster player during training camp this season and has four assists in four preseason matches.
