Austria’s Koch wins ski jumping World Cup

OBERSTDORF, Germany (AP) — Martin Koch of Austria won a ski jumping World Cup event Saturday, edging Daiki Ito of Japan.

Koch flew 218 meters in the first heat and soared 221.5 meters in the second for the longest jump of the day. He collected 443.4 points to win his third World Cup. He also won on the same hill last year.

Ito had efforts of 209 and 209.5 for 433.2 points.

Olympic champion Simon Ammann of Switzerland was third with jumps of 204.5 and 213.5 meters and 429.2 points.
