Provost leads Pan-Am past Chicago State 74-70

EDINBURG, Texas (AP) — Brandon Provost had 16 points and six assists and Texas-Pan American hit 11 3-pointers in a 74-70 victory over Chicago State on Saturday night.

Jesus Delgado added 11 points and Ruben Cabrera had 10 for the Broncs (11-17, 5-2 Great West), who won their fourth straight game and swept the season series from the Cougars (4-23, 2-7).

Ardarius Simmons led Chicago State with 30 points, Jeremy Robinson added 18 and Matt Samuels had 14.

The Cougars were perfect from the free-throw line, but had only nine attempts. Pan-American was 17 for 21 at the line, while hitting 11 of 27 3-point shots.

The Broncs trailed 58-49 before scoring 10 straight points and taking the lead on Provost’s 3-pointer with 9:58 remaining. It remained a one-possession game the rest of the way until Nick Weiermiller hit two free throws for Pan-Am with 5 seconds left to account for the final scoring.
