VILLANOVA, Pa. (AP) — April Sykes scored 20 points to help No. 21 Rutgers snap a five-game losing streak with a 61-52 win over Villanova on Saturday.

Erica Wheeler added 16 points and Khadijah Rushdan had 13 for the Scarlet Knights (18-8, 7-6), who hadn’t won since beating DePaul 65-64 on Jan. 24.

Laura Sweeney had 19 points and six rebounds for Villanova (15-12, 5-9 Big East), which shot 6 for 31 from 3-point range.

The Wildcats got off to a fast start, but Rutgers responded and went ahead for good late in the first half. Villanova cut the lead to five points with 5:35 to play before Sykes, Wheeler and Syessence Davis scored three quick baskets to push the lead back to double digits.
