Talking Points: Busting the BracketBusters

What’s the buzz from the world of sports? Here are some items that will have people talking:

1

Another BracketBuster weekend has come and gone, with some college basketball teams left worse off than others. (See: San Diego State, UNLV.)

It did make us wonder if being picked to play a “BracketBuster” is an honor or dishonor.

Afterall, the entire Big Sky Conference had “BracketBuster” games, and the Big Sky isn’t a group of teams you’ll find on Final Four weekend. You also won’t see North Carolina visit the Stott Center in late February anytime soon just to prove themselves to the NCAA Selection Committee.

We are all for the chosen BracketBusters to rise up and knock off a Top 25 team just to shake things up prior to all those silly conference tournaments.

The headline on an entry in the Yahoo sports blog “Ball Don’t Lie” is pretty revealing: “Greg Oden’s not even healthy enough for knee surgery.”

Author Eric Freeman isn’t trying to be funny, either. Some of us just don’t understand why Oden remains on the Blazers’ payroll.
