East Tennessee State beats Lipscomb 66-57

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Isiah Brown scored 19 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to lead East Tennessee State over Lipscomb 66-57 on Monday night.

The Buccaneers (14-13, 8-8 Atlantic Sun Conference) shot slightly better than Lipscomb from the field, 44.4 percent (24 of 54) to 42.6 percent (20 of 47), but the Bison turned it over four more times and struggled from the free-throw line.

Lipscomb (12-16, 7-9) made just 9 of 22 from the line (40.9), including just 1 for 6 in the final 3 minutes.

ETSU led 56-54 with 2:58 to go, and Sheldon Cooley made three free throws over the next 1:30 to give Lipscomb a 59-54 lead.

Jacob Arnett’s 3 brought it back within two for the Bison with 33 seconds left. But ETSU finished with seven unanswered points.

Cooley finished with 17 points for the Buccaneers.

The Bison were led by Martin Smith with 18 points.
