Letter: Dismiss light rail for time being

Published: February 20, 2012, 4:00pm

Why have I seen so few studies done on building the CRC bridge with a light rail deck for future use, but with no light rail at this time? It has been dismissed somehow, out of hand. I have no problem spending money for the CRC bridge, but obviously the time is not right to expend money on Clark County light rail facilities, operations and equipment, and to subsidize riders’ use of it. When (and if) light rail is needed, it will make sense to the folks in Clark County and the light rail deck would be there to facilitate its Portland connection. If this option is not on any vote, I am not interested in other options. Our leaders are holding the bridge hostage for the sake of “their” light rail and I’m sick of it.
