Letter: Begin again with more bridges
Wednesday, February 22, 2012
The Columbia River Crossing project gets more comical by the day for a variety of reasons, but the most entertaining of all is that, even if the bridge were to be built tomorrow, we’ll still be left with what I like to call the “Delta Parking Lot.”
For the metropolitan area we live in, we should have four or more bridges spanning the Columbia. As things stand, we can’t keep our infrastructure even maintained, much less improved.
If we could stay out of trumped-up wars we never should have become involved in, we could have more federal funds available to restore our country to greatness and put America back to work.
