GORST, Wash. (AP) -- Divers removed the driver of a car that crashed off Highway 3 into Sinclair Inlet Friday morning near Gorst.
Trooper Julie Startup says he was initially reported as dead because of the time he was underwater. He was given CPR after he was removed from the water and taken to Harrison Medical Center in Bremerton.
Startup says the accident happened about 6 a.m. when the driver suddenly veered, glancing off another car, vaulting over a fence and landing in the water. The car sank about 90 feet from shore.
The scene is not far from where a Washington State Patrol trooper was killed early Thursday in a traffic stop shooting.
