Hamilton’s 31 points lead Oakland past UMKC 89-56

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — National scoring leader Reggie Hamilton had 31 points Thursday night, leading Oakland to an 89-56 victory over UMKC.

Laval Lucas-Perry made all four 3-pointers he took and scored 17 points for the Golden Grizzlies (16-14, 10-7), who overtook North Dakota State for third place in the Summit League. Travis Bader added 14 points.

Hamilton went just 5 of 11 from the floor but made three 3-pointers and was 18 of 22 from the line in his 13th 30-point game. He also had seven assists.

Hamilton broke season school records with 759 points and 212 free throws, and he surpassed 2,000 points for his career at 2,002.

Brad Reid scored 14 points and Nate Rogers 11 for the Kangaroos (10-20, 4-13), whose losing streak grew to four games.

While Oakland shot 49 percent and sank 10 of 22 3-pointers, UMKC shot 33 percent and went 5 of 28 from long distance.
