Letter: Spirit of community on the menu

The Feb. 19 story reported “Serving good eats, blessings: Software developer boosts Lord’s Gym’s meal service with gift of much-needed appliances.” I volunteered at Lord’s Gym, a Christian center that serves hot meals every week, on Thanksgiving as dishwasher and food-disher-upper and was struck by several things. The kitchen was pretty minimalist, but the food they produced looked delicious home-made mashed potatoes with butter and home-made gravy, etc. Someone was up much of the night starting the cooking.

My thanks to John Ledoux for his donation of appliances and best wishes to the Lord’s Gym to continue making good food, served with a generous spirit.
