Mullings, New Mexico State overwhelm Hawaii 115-73

LAS CRUCES, N.M. (AP) — Daniel Mullings had 28 points, 12 rebounds, 10 assists and five steals to lead six New Mexico State players scoring in double figures in a 115-73 victory against Hawaii on Thursday night.

Mullings’ triple-double was the first for the Aggies (21-8, 8-3 WAC) since 1992 and third in school history. Wendell McKines scored 20 points, Hernst Laroche 16, Tyrone Watson and Bandja Sy 12 each and Tshilidzi Nephawe 10.

New Mexico State’s point total was its highest since a 122-105 victory against Texas Tech on Dec. 27, 1996. The 42-point victory margin was its biggest in a league game since joining the WAC in 2005-06 and largest since a 104-62 win against Loyola Marymount on Dec. 28, 2008.

Joston Thomas had 13 points and Trevor Wiseman 12 for the Rainbow Warriors (15-12, 6-5 WAC), who allowed a triple-double for the second straight game.

The Aggies shot 60.3 percent (41 of 68) from the floor and scored 38 points off 24 Hawaii turnovers. New Mexico State won the rebounding battle 41-31 and outscored the Warriors 42-22 in the paint.
