FAIRFIELD, Conn. (AP) — Velton Jones hit a 3-pointer with one second left to give Robert Morris a 55-53 win over Sacred Heart Thursday night.

Sacred Heart’s Phil Gaetano made two foul shots with 0:04 left to give the Pioneers (13-17, 17-10) a 53-52 lead. After a timeout, Jones hit the game-winning trey.
Jones stuck the first of his four 3-pointers for a 5-0 lead with 14:39 left in the first half. Sacred Heart finally scored at 14:06 on a jumper by Shane Gibson (12 points).
Anthony Myers made the first of two foul shots with 28 seconds left to put Robert Morris up 52-49. He missed the second and Chris Evans sank two foul shots at 0:19. That, and Gaetano’s free throws, set the stage for Jones.
