No 24 Rutgers women beat Providence 68-47

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — Khadijah Rushdan scored 21 points to lead No. 24 Rutgers past Providence 68-47 on Saturday, extending the Scarlet Knights’ winning streak against the Friars to 19 straight games.

The Scarlet Knights (20-8, 9-6 Big East) were never really threatened in this one, leading by 16 points at the break and outscoring the Friars 31-26 in the second half to seal it.

Rutgers outshot Providence 42.6 percent (23 of 54) to 30.2 percent (16 of 53) from the floor. The Scarlet Knights also went 20 of 26 (76.9 percent) from the foul line compared to just an 11-of-23 (47.8 percent) performance from Providence.

The Friars edged the Scarlet Knights on the boards 40-39, but also committed 21 turnovers in the losing effort.

Rachel Barnes led Providence (13-15, 5-10) with 12 points while Teya Wright earned a double-double, scoring 11 points and pulling down 10 rebounds.
