North Carolina A&T tops South Carolina State 79-75

ORANGEBURG, S.C. (AP) — Austin Witter scored 16 points and DaMetrius Upchurch had 15 points and 11 rebounds to lead North Carolina A&T to a 79-75 victory over South Carolina State on Saturday.

Upchurch hit two free throws with 1:57 remaining and another with 42 seconds left to give the Aggies (12-17, 7-7 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) a 75-72 lead.

After Joe Ikhinmwin missed a layup for the Bulldogs (5-23, 0-14), Adrian Powell’s dunk made it 77-72 North Carolina A&T.

Witter added a free throw for a six-point lead, but Brandon Riley’s 3-pointer for South Carolina State with 8 seconds left made it 78-75. Riley led the Bulldogs with 31 points, including 6 of 12 on 3-pointers.

Jeremy Underwood’s free throw supplied the final margin for the Aggies, who also got 14 points from Marc Hill.

Ikhinmwin scored 15 and Khalif Toombs 14 for the Bulldogs, and Omar Sanders had 10 points and 11 rebounds.
