There will be playoff hockey in Vancouver on Sunday.

A late goal on Saturday lifted the Eugene Generals to a 3-2 win over the Vancouver Victory to tie their best-of-3 Northern Pacific Hockey League playoff series.

The deciding third game is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. on Sunday at Mountain View Ice Arena in Vancouver. Sunday’s winner will advance to the league semifinals against Seattle. That series is scheduled to begin on Tuesday.

Christian Merritt scored with 10 seconds remaining on Saturday to give Eugene the win at the Lane County Event Center.

Cam Calloway and Joe Bordak scored goals for Vancouver, and defenseman Erik Mathies had the lone assist on both tallies. Calloway’s goal tied the score at 1-1 late in the second period. Bordak’s goal with 6:29 to play in the game gave the Victory a 3-2 lead. But the Generals tied the game just 25 seconds later on Julian Herrera’s goal.

Neither team scored a power-play goal. Vancouver was 0 for 3 and Eugene was 0 for 6 with a man advantage.

Vancouver goalie Mitch Saviola made 41 saves in the loss.

Yellowstone defeated West Sound on Saturday to win that series. The Quake will face Southern Oregon in the semifinals.
