DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (AP) — It’s raining at Daytona International Speedway, likely delaying the start of the Daytona 500.

NASCAR officials have not made an official announcement about pushing back the 1:29 p.m. green flag, but they will have little choice if the rain doesn’t stop soon. The track typically takes at least two hours to dry.

Forecast calls for intermittent showers most of the afternoon, but NASCAR officials want to do everything they can to get the season opener in Sunday.

Officials say driver introductions are still scheduled for 12:40 p.m.
