GRANTS PASS, Ore. (AP) -- The Josephine County sheriff's office says a 13-year-old girl escaped from a kidnapper by jumping from his pickup truck.

The girl told deputies she was riding her bike near Lincoln Savage Middle School about 4 p.m. Monday when the man dragged her into his truck.

She says he drove about a mile before she opened the door and jumped out. She ran about three miles to a friend's house for help. She suffered minor scrapes and scratches.

The suspect is described as a white man, in his mid-40s, about 6-foot-1, with curly brown hair, facial hair and a scar on his neck. He was wearing a black shirt and gray sweat pants.

The truck is primer black with gray painted triangles on the door.
