Letter: Money is large factor in winning

Regarding Jay Ambrose’s Feb. 23 column “What’s wrong with free speech, honesty in elections?,” I believe he is mistaken in his statement that “there is scads of evidence that candidates who do the most spending also do quite a bit of losing.” According to MSNBC, 95 percent of winners outspend their opponents. Additionally, he opines that the American electorate is not capable of being misled by political propaganda. I would like for him to offer a counter explanation of the mess we are trying to claw our way out of.
