Join The Columbian for a live chat this Friday, Mar. 2 at 12 p.m. with Brighton West, producer and director of Vancouvria.
West, a Portland resident, produces humorous short documentary and narrative films. He recently made a splash here with Vancouvria, a parody of the hit TV show Portlandia starring Fred Armisen and Carrie Brownstein.
During the one-hour chat, we'll talk about how West created Vancouvria and what to expect in future episodes. Bring your questions and suggestions for West. What funny cultural differences between Portland and Vancouver could serve as fodder for the next show?
West has directed and produced a total of four Vancouvria episodes that average 2.5 minutes long. The first episode received more than 120,000 pageviews and 400 subscribers on YouTube. West started adding short narratives on Youtube in 2006 and the first episode of Vancouvria appeared on Jan. 15.
Sign up for an email reminder or login to participate on Friday at noon at www.columbian.com/chat. Participants must use a Facebook, Twitter, OpenID or MySpace account to login and leave comments or questions, but anyone can watch the action.
