Norfolk State beats Florida A&M 79-70

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) — Chris McEachin scored 16 points and Kyle O’Quinn notched a double-double to lead Norfolk State in a 79-70 win over Florida A&M on Monday night.

Pendarvis Williams added 14 points for the Spartans (21-9, 12-3 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference), while O’Quinn had 12 points and 10 rebounds.

FAMU took an early lead, but Norfolk State had the lead for good midway through the opening half and took a 39-30 lead at intermission. The Spartans pushed that lead to 21 points with 7:40 remaining and cruised from there. Both teams scored 40 points apiece in the second half.

The Rattlers outrebounded the Spartans 43-42, but committed 13 turnovers. Norfolk State’s bench outscored FAMU’s 26-18, and the Spartans tallied nine steals and seven blocks.

Amin Stevens also turned in a double-double, leading FAMU (8-21, 6-9) with 19 points and 15 rebounds.
