Ohio State’s Prahalis chosen top Big Ten player

PARK RIDGE, Ill. (AP) — Ohio State star Samantha Prahalis is the Big Ten Player of the Year.

In votes by coaches and media announced Monday, Prahalis got the nod after averaging 20.4 points and 6.5 assists. With 889 assists, she is four away from becoming the Big Ten’s career leader.

She was a unanimous all-conference pick by the coaches and media and made the first team along with teammate Tayler Hill, Nebraska’s Jordan Hooper and Penn State stars Alex Bentley and Maggie Lucas. The Nittany Lions’ Coquese Washington was selected the Coach of the Year by the coaches and media, with Minnesota’s Rachel Banham taking top freshman honors. The coaches also chose Ohio State’s Amber Stokes as Defensive Player of the Year and Illinois’ Adrienne GodBold as Sixth Player of the Year.
