GOODYEAR, Ariz. (AP) — Albert Belle came back to the Indians.

Once one of the game’s most feared hitters, Belle made a surprise visit to Cleveland’s spring training complex Tuesday and spent most of the morning reminiscing with former teammates Kenny Lofton, Carlos Baerga, Sandy Alomar and manager Mike Hargrove about the days when the Indians ruled the AL. Belle had not been back to see the club since 1996, when he left as a free agent.

Belle was the ringleader of a Cleveland team than went 100-44 in 1995 and made the World Series. He retired in 2001, forced out by a bad hip. He now lives in Arizona, where he’s a stay-at-home dad raising four daughters.

Baerga and Lofton brought Belle back to help repair his rocky relationship with the Indians.
