WASHINGTON (AP) — The first handful of vote returns in Michigan show Rick Santorum and Mitt Romney in a close contest.
With 4 percent of Michigan precincts voting, Santorum is ahead 40 percent to Romney’s 39 percent, with Ron Paul and Newt Gingrich far behind.
Arizona Republicans are voting Tuesday, too. Romney is favored by far in that race, which has drawn less attention than Michigan’s primary.
