BURIEN, Wash. (AP) — King County sheriff’s deputies who interrupted a Tuesday evening robbery attempt at a pawn shop in Burien, Wash., ended up trading gunshots with the suspected robbers.

Sheriff’s spokeswoman Sgt. Cindi West says officers don’t believe anyone was hit by those gunshots.

Two people reportedly are in custody. Officers are looking for at least one more person.

As the robbery developed, three employees at the Pawn X-Change locked themselves in a room and called for help. Late Tuesday night, a SWAT team moved in and brought the employees out safely.

Deputies responded to an emergency call at about 7 p.m. West says the caller reported seeing three armed men wearing hoodies entering the shop.

This is the latest in a string of recent armed pawn shop robberies in the south Seattle area.
