CHARDON, Ohio (AP) — A longtime neighbor of the couple that helped raise the teenage suspect in a deadly Ohio school shooting says a gun fitting the description of the one used in the rampage is missing from the boy’s grandfather’s barn.

Carl Henderson, a friend and neighbor of suspect T.J. Lane’s grandparents, says the gun was kept in the family’s barn and wasn’t noticed missing until after Monday’s shootings.

The 74-year-old Henderson, a former police officer and Geauga (jee-AW’-guh) County sheriff, says Lane’s grandfather, Thomas Lane, has told him he believes it’s the same gun.

He says the grandparents, who helped raise T.J. Lane off and on, feel terrible about what happened and have no explanation for the teen’s alleged role in the shootings.
