KALAMAZOO, Mich. (AP) — Darrell Lampley’s layup with a second remaining gave Eastern Michigan a 54-53 victory over Western Michigan Wednesday night.

Lampley led the Eagles (14-16, 9-6 Mid-American) with 15 points and Antonio Green finished with 12 points. Eastern Michigan clinched the outright MAC West championship and the Eagles are guaranteed to host a first-round game in the MAC tournament next week.

Flenard Whitfield’s three-point play had given the Broncos (12-18, 6-9) a 53-52 lead with 16 seconds to play. Whitfield had 14 points and Mike Douglas led Western Michigan with 15 points and six rebounds.

Western led for most of the first half, but Eastern went ahead just before the halftime buzzer 26-25 on J.R. Sims’ 3-pointer.
