Edgewood Park — Students at Harney Elementary School cheered as four of their teachers kissed a pig at the Valentine’s Day assembly. The event marked the wrap-up of Harney Elementary PTO’s ongoing drive to fatten a fund earmarked for technology improvements. Between Jan. 31 and Feb. 13, Harney students and parents donated $1,000 to classroom piggy banks. With each increment of $250 raised, another teacher agreed to kiss a squealing piglet, whose services were volunteered by a Harney family. Nearly 600 students attend the school, which houses the Vancouver Public Schools’ Spanish immersion program.
