ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — LaMarcus Reed scored 18 points and Kevin Butler 16 to lead Texas-Arlington to a 78-64 victory against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Wednesday night.

Bo Ingram added 14 points for the Mavericks (23-6, 15-0 Southland), who are the No. 1 seed in next week’s conference tournament.

Chris Hawkins-Mast had 18 points and Jake Kocher 15 points and three steals for the Islanders (5-24, 3-12), who have been eliminated from postseason consideration.

A&M-Corpus Christi erased an 11-point deficit in the second half and was within 65-61 with 4:38 remaining. But Texas-Arlington held the Islanders scoreless for the next two minutes as baskets by Ingram, Butler and Cameron Catlett helped rebuild a double-digit cushion.

The Mavericks won the rebounding battle 37-28 and had a 48-16 scoring advantage in the paint.
