Letter: Property owners should pay for fence

I disagree with Vancouver City Manager Eric Holmes about spending taxpayer money to protect private property abutting the Renaissance Trail. A Dec. 28 story “City fences off closed section of trail” reported the cost of renting temporary fencing “estimated $3,000 for the next 12 months.”

As far as safety is concerned, normally yellow caution tape is used. The property owners at Tidewater Cove should pay to protect their own grass.
