GLENDALE, Ariz. (AP) — Pac-12 Commissioner Larry Scott says he believes a team from the conference will be playing a football game in China “in the not too distant future.”

Scott, speaking at halftime of the Fiesta Bowl, said Stanford and Notre Dame would like to play in China as early as 2013. Scott said that might be too soon, based on information he gathered in a recent trip to Beijing.

He said he plans to have further discussions on the subject with officials from Stanford and Notre Dame. Scott said that if it’s not 2013, it is just a matter of time before the Pac-12 introduces college football to the world’s largest country.
