Iona routs Siena 95-59

NEW YORK (AP) — Sean Armand scored a career-high 32 points, including a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference-record 10 3-pointers, and Iona cruised to a 95-59 victory over Siena on Tuesday night at Madison Square Garden.

Armand, a 6-foot-3 sophomore, scored the Gaels’ last 20 points of the first half as they took a 57-31 lead. He broke the MAAC record of nine 3s, which was held by five players, and he bettered the school record of eight set by current teammate Kyle Smyth against Albany in 2010. Armand, whose previous bests were 22 points and six 3s, was 10 of 19 from 3-point range and the Gaels were 17 of 39 from beyond the arc.

Jermel Jenkins had 16 points and Lamont Jones added 14 for Iona (11-3, 3-0), which has won four of five. The Gaels came into the game fifth in the nation in scoring at 85.1 points per game. This was the sixth time this season they scored more than 90.

Evan Hymes had 22 points for the Saints (5-8, 0-3). who had won their last two games.
