Some Seattle residents told to boil drinking water

SEATTLE (AP) — Some residents of southeast Seattle are advised to boil their tap water until tests confirm it is safe to drink, following a break in a 20-inch main.

The pipe broke early Wednesday, affecting as many as 1,300 homes. Seattle Public Utilities said it expected repairs to be completed Wednesday afternoon.

The utility said it would take at least 24 hours for drinking water test results.
