Letter: Time to polish up priorities

The Columbian
Published: January 3, 2012, 4:00pm

A Jan. 1 story reported “Grant would bring luster back to Clark County’s courthouse: Commissioners must approve matching funds to clean building’s brass fixtures.”

Maybe there is something wrong with me, but I think it is important to have firemen, police, schools and road repair; but for those who live in ivory towers, it is more important to polish the courthouse doorknobs.

It is no wonder we do not trust those we put in power in our government when a doorknob is more important than the well-being of our citizens.

For that reason, I am thankful we have elections.
