Barbour, High Point hold off Presbyterian 63-57

CLINTON, S.C. (AP) — Nick Barbour scored 27 points as High Point held off Presbyterian 63-57 in a Big South Conference game Thursday night.

Barbour went 11 of 14 from the floor, hitting 3 of 3 from long range, and Shay Shine added 14 points on 6-of-9 shooting.

The Panthers (6-8, 2-2) trailed 14-2 early before rallying to a 28-28 halftime tie.

The game was tied on five more occasions, the last time at 45 with 9:32 left, before High Point pulled away with a 5-0 run.

The Blue Hose (8-7, 2-3) got to 58-55 with 1:50 left, but Shine made two layups as part of another 5-0 run.

Khalid Mutakabbir led Presbyterian with 20 points and Josh Johnson scored 10. The Panthers held preseason All-Conference selection Al’Lonzo Coleman to eight points and eight rebounds.

High Point has beaten the Blue Hose five straight times, its best winning streak against any Big South opponent.
