NEW YORK (AP) — Stefan Perunicic scored 21 points to lift St. Francis (N.Y.) to a 73-72 Northeast Conference victory against Quinnipiac on Thursday NIGHT.

Perunicic went backdoor for the winning play as he took a feed from junior Akeem Johnson from the high-post and put in the game-tying layup. Perunicic then calmly hit the game-winning free throw following a Quinnipiac timeout to seal the victory. He became the 27th Terrier (5-9, 2-1) to reach 1,000 career points with a trey with 2:51 remaining in the contest.

Johnson finished with 18 points, Jalen Cannon had 14 and Brent Jones added 12 for St. Francis.

James Johnson led the Bobcats (8-6, 1-2) with 28 points and eight rebounds.

Quinnipiac outshot St. Francis from the field 44.8 percent (26 of 58) to 41.1 percent (23 of 56), but allowed the Terriers to score 13 second chance points.
