Marc Boldt, the new chairman of the Clark County Board of Commissioners, will give the State of the County address next month.

The event is scheduled for 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 2 at the Washburn Performing Arts Center at Washougal High School, 1201 39th St.

The event is free.

Attendees are encouraged to bring nonperishable food for local food banks. The Washougal Salvation Army will collect donations.

“We keep hearing that service organizations are struggling to serve more and more families who have trouble feeding their kids,” said Boldt. “This is a generous community but the economy has been down so long that the need just keeps rising.”

Boldt will speak about community needs and public issues after the commissioners recognize volunteers for extraordinary efforts in 2011.

“I believe the real core of service is helping your neighbor in need,” he said.

The show will be broadcast on Clark-Vancouver Television, channels 21 and 23.
