A car fire closed the northbound lanes of Interstate 5 just south of the Interstate Bridge on Friday morning.

Firefighters with Portland Fire & Rescue were dispatched at 6:45 a.m. to reports of a car fire in the left lane just south of the bridge, said Portland Fire & Rescue spokesman Tommy Schroeder.

Two engines from Portland and at least one from the Vancouver Fire Department responded.

All northbound lanes and one southbound lane were closed while firefighters dealt with the blaze. They knocked down the fire just after 7 a.m.

There were no injuries in the fire, Schroeder said.

The right northbound lane and left southbound lane were reopened by 7:15 a.m. All lanes reopened by 8 a.m.
