Letter: Use less, pay more makes little sense
Friday, January 6, 2012
I just don’t understand the ideological thinking of our utilities officials.
For the past year or more, Clark Public Utilities advertised to its customers to go away from electric heat to ductless heat systems for the home. They show how much money you can save vs. electric. I did see this coming. Change your light bulbs, go with newer insulated windows. All kinds of Clark Public Utilities commercials to save money on heating and cooling.
Did the push to change over become such a good thing that the utilities now want a rate increase? It’s so predictable the way the government can get its losses covered. So think about it, water is plenty full, the dams are full and producing power. How much longer can the greed for profit keep going?
No matter what, it’s always the little guy who pays while the CEOs and shareholders want more money in their pockets. There is no reason why we should pay more for power when all the natural resources are at our disposal.
