ALTENBERG, Germany (AP) — Thomas Florschuetz piloted Germany 1 to victory at the World Cup to clinch his first European title in two-man bobsled on Saturday.

Florschuetz and Kevin Kuske claimed the event after just one run because the second was called off due to heavy snowfall.

The pair edged compatriots Maximilian Arndt and Marko Huebenbecker by .01 seconds finishing in 56.26 seconds.

Switzerland’s Beat Hefti and Thomas Lamparter were third, 0.47 seconds back.

The event had earlier been delayed due to the weather.

Florschuetz improves to 885 points in the overall standings with his third win in a row, leading Hefti by 50 points, with Arndt third on 762.
